DACKKS GROUP
News from DACKKs

I always enjoy the opportunity to report that we have another property available for a homeless person or family. Yes, we do! At the end of June, we will purchase another two family house –in Garfield- and rent it to two homeless disabled adults with children. This will complete our LINKs Project –a permanent supportive housing project for eight people, both individuals and adults with families. As soon as we close on the property we will have volunteer crews in to make modest repairs, clean, paint and furnish both units. If you have some time and talent to donate, please contact the office. Sound familiar? It should because this is exactly what we have done every year since our organization began in October of 2000.

As always our volunteers and donors are the true heroes of the DACKKs Group's successes. In the next week Home Depot will lend us a great big hand by sending volunteers, tools and donated materials to our Bergenfield property for a day of work to help us polish up our two family even more. Also this month, we will begin much needed renovations to the bathroom and kitchen of our property in Rutherford thanks to a generous grant from the Department of Human Services. Our grant money goes farther because we enjoy the generous support of businesses and individuals who donate merchandise and dollars for our renovations to keep the costs down.

We are midway through the Domain challenge grant year for our capital campaign. You will recall that the Domain Fund will match each dollar donated through the end of September 2005 –up to $35,000. We hope to take full advantage of their generous offer…

And please….SAVE THE DATE! Our annual fundraiser will be held on November 7, 2005. Please join us that evening at the lovely and elegant Brick House in Wyckoff, New Jersey, for gourmet indulgences and fine libations. We will be honoring some very special people that evening. Contact our office for details. Invitations will follow.

I hope to see you at our upcoming events.
